This is an excellent plan!!!

This is a question of our finances, not how to best share the space.

The options are simple.

Option 1) Keep things as they are. Some people get to use the storage and others don't, but everyone pays a big assessment. For me and everone else who does not use the storage space (or cannot use it) this essentially means that we will pay an assessment so that our neighbors can fill the storage rooms for "free." Those who are filling the rooms now may pay less in an assessment than they will to buy the space - good for them, but not fair.

OR

Option 2) Sell the space and avoid the assessment. If you really want storage, then buy it.

If this plan does not get passed, and it should be, then the Board should at least charge a fee to those that use the storage space.

Personally, i would rather be billed for the increases (which at 3.5% per year are very reasonable) and pay the assessment, in lieu of going through all the aggravation and expense of having to clear out my items from the room, find somewhere to put them (probably having to pay for storage off-site) losing continuous access to the things I need (laundry cart, bike, etc.) then fork out up to 30K and move everything back in. What a hassle! And all for a tiny contribution to the building income, which WILL STILL NECESSITATE MAINTENANCE INCREASES ANYWAY. All the above has to be considered an extra expense in time and money for those shareholders who have storage access, and should be factored into the 'costs' side of this formula.

I think that part of this has to be a consideration that while you vote and agree to pay the 3.5% and the assessments $4,000-$20,000 many other people go without the space.

No one ever had a price of $30,000 mentioned at the meeting. The average price is much less and the most expensive one was $29,000.

I specifically mentioned that stuff will be shifted around in-house to other space for people who are going to buy a space and have no cost. There would not be a cost to use our internal rooms during renovation.
